To Whom It May Concern:

 

The purpose of this letter is to apply for and express my interest in the reading specialist position in your school district.

 

My most recent teaching experience was in a first grade position for Okemos Public Schools, 2015-2019. Prior to teaching first grade, I completed my year-long internship with Michigan State University in a first grade classroom. I am certified to teach elementary grades in all content areas as well as Language Arts in grades six through eight. My teaching experiences thus far have prepared me to be a qualified candidate for this position.

 

Throughout my teaching experiences, many responsibilities were fulfilled. These responsibilities included planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and unit plans that met district and state standards. Other responsibilities included assessing academic needs of students through data collection and teaching small literacy groups based on those needs, differentiating instruction, and collaborating with fellow teachers.

 

Additionally, I was actively involved in my school’s community. Involvement included attending and participating in events such as the fall open house, curriculum night, family fun events, and school wide fundraisers. In the spring of 2016 I was an assistant coach for Girls on the Run, a physical activity based positive youth development program for third and fourth grade girls. All of these experiences have helped me to become a well-rounded candidate for a teaching position in an elementary building.
